Solution to Dengue through bio-technology

Dengue is one of a contagious disease caused by the vector mosquito. It is common in the tropic nations like Malaysia, Singapore, India, Brazil etc. It is some time fatal. Millions of peoples get affected every year. Dengue is caused by a mosquito called Aecles acgypti. This larva of these mosquitoes usually breed in fresh water stagnated in the flower pots, old tires, overhead tanks etc. To avoid the larval growth, fresh water should not be allowed to stagnate. But this is not is not possible.

So the Academy of Science of Malaysia recommended finding a solution through Bio-technology. The Institute for Medical Research Kuala Lumpur took this project and developed a new Genetically Modified species of Aedes aegypti. This species will give birth to offspring which will die during its larval stage. So it is believed that release of considerable amount of genetically modified mosquitoes will cause extinction of this species.

So Bio-technology has pawed a way for the extinction of a fatal diseases dengue. This technology can be implemented for the entire vector born diseases.
